By joining the "In Their Shoes" one-day walk for cancer, you will become part of a worldwide community of people working together to fight cancer and improve the lives of those being treated.

The needs are great and cancer at times can be overwhelming, but the support that is offered in Athens, Georgia by you as walkers, sponsors, and volunteers can help make a difference.

What is the Registration Fee?
The $50.00 registration fee for the "In Their Shoes" Walk is credited to your fundraising goal. Your registration fee helps cover the cost of a t-shirt, support materials, food/hydration, transportation and more on the day of the event.

How far will I have to walk?
The "In Their Shoes" Walk is a 13.1 mile one-day walk. The mileage you walk is up to you. Vans will be supporting the walk and can pick up walkers as needed. There will be pit stops offered every few miles to provide food/hydration, portable toilets, and medical services.

What is the fundraising minimum?
The fundraising commitment is a minimum of $1,000 ($900 if on a team of 5 or more). After registering for the walk, we encourage all walkers to turn in their contributions as they receive them to the Athens Regional Foundation Office. This will help insure timely deposit and acknowledgement of your supporters' contributions. Volunteers are not required to fundraise, but please feel free to help. Fundraising tips are found in the handbook.

What is the Refund Policy?
Registration deposits and donor contributions are non-refundable.

Where are the proceeds going?
The proceeds from the walk will go to support the ARMC Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support. The Center provides supportive services at no charge to all cancer patients and their family and caregivers regardless of where the patient is treated. The Center provides support groups, counseling, a library, help with managing side effects, transportation, health restorative programs, creative programs, and much more. When will I get my participant number?
Your registration letter will contain your participant number and will be sent to you a few days after we receive your registration. It is important that this number is on every donation form that is sent to the "In Their Shoes" office. This will help insure that your account is properly credited. A donation form must be submitted with every check or charge made. Your participant number is also the way we keep track of you during the event.

How do I get in touch with someone?
The "In Their Shoes" walk is organized by a group of individuals with support from Athens Regional Foundation. The chairs of the committee are Anne Hansen and Gaylene Ward.
