“In Their Shoes” Walk Announces Walker Orientations
This fall, Athens Regional Medical Center will host the “In Their Shoes” Walk, a 13.1-mile,
one-day walk recognizing and honoring women who have lived through breast cancer.
The event will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010, and the walk is symbolic of the long road of treatment cancer patients must endure to survive.
All proceeds from the walk remain local, benefiting the
all cancer patients at the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support through
the Athens Regional Foundation.
A fundraising minimum of $1,000 is required of all walkers
($900 if team of 5 or more).
In the months and weeks preceding the walk, organizers have scheduled several Walker Orientation gatherings to provide participants with fundraising tips and ideas, as well as walking coaches and opportunities for group walks.
